Peg Kauffman
How do I get the musty smell out of an old Hermes sweater? I already tried vinegar and that didn't work- please help- I would love to wear this but the smell!
Janet:
I asked vintage fashion expert Marlene Wetherell how to get the musty smell out of a vintage Hermes sweater... here are two of her personal tips. "Peg should use a few fabric softener sheets (available in most supermarkets and drugstores) and put them in the dryer with the sweater. Make sure to use the "air" setting and let it dry for about 30-minutes." Sun drying is also great to rid items of musty smells, but you risk fading the colors of a sweater.
