I am getting married this summer and we are having a 70's theme. The whole thing is based around a powder blue tux with ruffle shirt. The 70's had a wide range of fashion trends and I can't seem to find out what part of the 70's we need to focus on - early, mid, late? It will make all the difference in what I wear and what we request our guests to wear.
Janet:
Sounds like you are more focused on the middle to late 70's...around the time period of the film SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. Short dance dresses, platform sandals or wide legged jumpsuits for the women, and colorful three-piece suits worn with tight fitting shirts (open collared) for the guys. Everyone wore a lot of color then, so you should be able to really have fun with this kind of 70's look. Men & women really dressed up and had fun doing it! Sounds like a good theme for a wedding and you can play great 70s songs at the party. Think John Travolta... rent the video and study it for more ideas... that way you can't miss.
