What are the retro trends on the runways at the moment? Do you know of any designers that incorporate retro into their collections?
Janet:
Retro has been a big influence on the runways for the past few seasons. Large, bold 60s style Pucci and Op Art prints were seen in the collections of Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana. Small floral patterns reminiscent of the 50s have been seen at Pierre Balmain and Chanel. The chic 40s looks such as wonderful trench coats and tailored suits inspired the Jean-Paul Gaultier and Comme des Garcons shows. The 80s style cocktail of excess influenced some collections with bold shoulders, gold brocade and body-suits as witnessed in previous Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Emanual Ungaro and Celine shows.
